Who we are

Girls are leaders, advocates and solution-builders

Girls Connect Sierra Leone is a community-based organization founded in 2021 to empower girls and young women across Sierra Leone’s Northern Province.

Our integrated programs connect climate justice, menstrual health, informal skills, public speaking and legal empowerment. We work with schools, families, chiefs, councils and government institutions so girls can stay healthy, build livelihoods and lead action.

A story from Rolakoh

Girls turned legal knowledge into local protection

Girls trained by GCSL organized, engaged chiefs and women’s groups, and advocated against excessive charcoal burning and damage to farms.

Local leaders responded with community by-laws restricting tree-cutting and charcoal burning, helping strengthen forest protection and climate resilience.
